Goebel Hopper Bin Quick Reference
Goebel Hopper Bin Brochure
Goebel Grain bins are manufactured with the highest quality material available. In 2005 Goebel started using GALFAN material for all the body and parts materials. Galfan material offers up to 3 times the corrosion protection as hot dipped galvanized steel has improved formability and over twice the life span of competitors materials.
Goebel hopper bins come with all the standard features you have come to expect and are engineered for exceptional strength and durability.
Hopper Design
- Goebel hoppers are designed with the legs around the perimeter to make it stronger and more stable.
- Heavier leg frames allows for less legs to be used for better unloading access.
- Hoppers come standard with a 37 degree slope, can custom design up to 55 degrees.
- Finish preparation – loose material is sanded and buffed, all the surfaces are then washed with a de-greasing solution. White gloved checked for clean.
- Hoppers are then painted with a self priming high build industrial alkyd enamel.
Hopper Features
Goebel hopper bins come standard with the following features,
- Galfan steel construction
- roof, body and hopper ladder
- self locking lid which opens from the ground
- a bin roof to side wall mount with a drip edge for a perfect seal
- stiffeners for added strength
- Saf-T-fill full bin indicator
- 2 – 22″ circular roof vents on 21′ and 24′ diameters

Prairie Steel can manufacture a low profile cone for any size Goebel bin. The hopper cone still holds the same bushel capacity but has benefits that appeal to a certain group of customers. It lowers the overall height of a bin by 18” to allow a customer’s existing auger to reach the top of a bin. It also eliminates spilled grain if the outflow from the bottom of a hopper cone is not being monitored.
Options on any of our Goebel Hopper bins are,
- safety cages and roof safety hand rails
- 22′ round roof vents
- aeration packages

Prairie Steel cones are built with the highest quality material and are designed with the end user in mind. We only use heavy wall legs and 3/8 thick bands at the top of the cones. Allowing fewr legs to be used and more room to get your auger or conveyor in between the legs. Prairie Steel cones also come standard with 18” clearance under the cone but this can be upgraded to 24” or higher depending on your needs. All the seams are continuos welded not spot welded to ensure maximum strength.

Prairie Steel is the only cone manufacturer that can roll 4 x 4 tubing to a perfect circle. This allows us to be able to offer the customer the largest hopper skid footprint on the market.

Goebel bins maximum value sizes are 6 rings on a cone, this is the most efficient use of the cone and the best dollar value per bushel.

Goebel bins are built on your site by trained professional crews. This eliminates the damage caused by hauling a built bin down the road.

Prairie Steel aeration systems come in 2 sizes for the 15 and 18 foot diameter cones. 18” diameter perforated pipe are the standard option for air. Aeration pipes can be upgraded to 24” to allow for more airflow into the bin. All sizes of perforated pipe come standard with 30 percent porosity to allow maximum airflow while eliminating grain from entering the holes in the pipe.

Goebel bins best value comes in specific multiples of cones. 3 – 18 foot cones on a load or 2 – 21’ or 2 – 24 ‘ cones. This will allow the freight to be included in the price of the bins. The only added delivery cost is the over-dimensional pilot vehicles on 18’ and larger loads.

Goebel manufactures its 21’ and 24’ diameter bins to have the stiffners line up with the legs to allow load transfer from the stiffners to the legs right to the skid.

Prairie Steel has the largest skid available for the 2406- 10700 bushel bins to sit on gravel base. The 4 ring 4 x 4 skid. Prairie Steel uses a piece of I – beam to distribute the weight evenly over the 4 skids to eliminate deflection in the skid.
